Oct 21 2008 - SOA Update

It has been forever since our last update but here it is! Just so you know the Sons have not been slowing down one bit. We have been busy at work on material for our new album and we couldn't be any happier with the results thus far.

Since our last tour we have gone through a few changes and as some of you may know Drummer and founding member Derrick Sadkowski has made the decision to leave the band and focus on his life and we wish him the very best. Look out for his future music projects because we know that it will be bad ass once he returns to the music scene!

Derrick offers this statement:

"I've decided to step down as drummer of Sons of Azrael, this decision was made as I'm not confident in producing interesting and intriguing drumming on this upcoming album. My life has taken a few turns, and seems to be heading in another direction and touring/dumping my funds into a band seemed to become ambiguous, all things considered, I have to do what’s best for the band I helped create 5 years ago.

Touring, and playing night-in night-out was one of the best experiences anyone could live through, and I’ll be thankful for everything— all the fans, Bud and Trevor over at Ironclad, parties, other bands I’ve shared the stage with, was great every time. As for other projects, I have a few things in mind, but I need to reinvent my drumming to achieve them. I promise I’ll be back around soon enough. Thank you."

In his place we have made room for the versatile drumming of 16 year old Buffalo native Alex Chambers. We look forward to the skills he will be adding to our evolving sound and can't wait to show everyone that despite his age, he will be tearing shit up and turning heads on tour and on the next album with us.

Also, finally filling in a guitarist spot since Greg D's departure back in March, Karl Kirsch from Niagara Falls will be shredding face with us full time, and has been already played a significant role in the new material we have to offer and he showed he can hang while coming out on his first tour with us back in June with Full Blown Chaos across the east coast.

We will be continually writing and recording in the next month or so and will hopefully start production on the album by December. We will keep everyone updated on upcoming hometown and out of town shows that we are in the works of booking VERY soon!
